Share your creative content with your website visitors using Squarespace video blocks!

When it comes to adding videos to your website, Squarespace video content blocks are your go-to tool. This content block can be used to showcase your amazing video content directly on any page.

It's super simple to use - just upload your video file or paste a link from Youtube or Vimeo, and voila! Your video will be ready to entertain and inform your visitors.

You can add a title and description to give visitors a quick idea of what the video is about.

How to add a video block to Squarespace

  1. Select edit on the top left-hand side of your website preview.

  2. Click the add block option on a page section, or the plus sign inside classic editor.*

  3. Select the video option form the list of content blocks

  4. Double click on the content block, or click once and select the pencil icon to open the content block editor.

  5. Click the plus sign to add your video. You can upload a video directly to Squarespace, select one you have already added to your asset library, or add a link to a video that exists on Vimeo or YouTube.

If you are using a Vimeo or YouTube link, make sure the video is accessible using the video settings in that platform. Unlisted YouTube videos can be added, private YouTube videos can not.

  6. You have the option to upload a custom thumbnail image that will be placed over the video until the video block is clicked on to be played.

  7. There are additional video settings available for video content uploaded directly to Squarespace. These settings include mute, autoplay, and loop. For accessibility reasons, you can only use the autoplay feature when you have enabled mute.
