What is a Favicon and Why Does Your Squarespace Site Need One?

Ever wondered about that tiny little icon next to your website's name in your browser tab? That's called a favicon, and it's a small but mighty element of your online branding.

A favicon is a small square image, usually 16x16 pixels, that represents your website. It appears next to your website's title in browser tabs, bookmarks, and even in search engine results. While it may seem insignificant, a favicon plays a crucial role in making your website recognizable and memorable.

Imagine having dozens of tabs open and trying to find your specific website. A unique and eye-catching favicon can be a lifesaver! It helps your website stand out and makes it easier for visitors to identify and navigate through their open tabs.

Squarespace will fill that space with a little cube looking website icon that you can easily replace with your own image!
