To turn on your SSL in Squarespace, follow these steps:

  1. From your main menu, select Settings

  2. Scroll down and click on Advanced

  3. Scroll down and click on SSL

  4. Toggle on Secure (Preferred)

  5. Optional: Toggle on HSTS Secure

  6. Save your changes


How to add metadata to a page in Squarespace

Important info: This tutorial is specific for pages, and the process is slightly different for blog posts, products, and projects. This is also not guaranteed to be the text displayed on a search engine. Search engines are constantly changing algorithms to determine what content to display, but adding this information to a page is still considered a best practice.

  1. Click pages on the top of your menu

  2. Hover over the title of the page you want to add a meta title and description to, until you see the gear icon appear

  3. Click on that gear icon to open your page settings menu

  4. Select SEO, your second option

  5. Under SEO title, add your meta title, and under SEO description add the meta data you want to use for the description of your page.

  6. Select save on the top left-hand side



How to add an alt tag to an image in Squarespace 7.1

  1. Select the image block

  2. Click on the edit option

  3. Under the link options, you’ll see a space to add the alt tag

  4. Write text that describes the image. You can also include a keyword or phrase that is related to the page content that you want to rank higher in search results.
