Verify Your Flodesk Domain with Squarespace (Step-by-Step Guide)

If you’re using Flodesk to send emails from your business domain, there’s one quick setup step that can make a huge difference in how your emails look — and how well they’re delivered.

When you connect your Flodesk account to your Squarespace-purchased domain, your email links and sender address will use your own website domain (like hello@yoursite.com or links.yoursite.com) instead of a generic Flodesk URL. That means cleaner, more professional emails, and fewer chances of your messages landing in spam.

It might sound a little techy, but the process is actually pretty simple. You’ll just copy a few things from Flodesk and paste them into your Squarespace DNS settings.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Generate your verification records in Flodesk

Log into your Flodesk account and head to Brand Settings → Domain Setup.
Here, you’ll see your domain listed as unauthenticated. Click Authenticate now, then select I’ll do it manually to generate your verification records.

Flodesk will display three new DNS records — usually two CNAME records and one TXT record. Keep this tab open; we’ll need to copy each one in a moment.

Step 2: Open your domain settings in Squarespace

In a new browser tab, log into your Squarespace account and go to Settings → Domains.
Choose the domain you purchased through Squarespace, then click DNS Settings from the sidebar.
Scroll down to the Custom Records section. This is where we’ll add those Flodesk records.

Step 3: Add the CNAME and TXT records from Flodesk

Now, head back to the Flodesk window and copy the first record exactly as shown.
In Squarespace, click Add Record, paste the copied value, and select the correct record type (CNAME for the first two, TXT for the last one).

Be careful to match the “Name” and “Data” fields exactly; no extra spaces or punctuation. Once entered, click Save after each one.

Step 4: Verify your connection in Flodesk

Once all three records are saved in Squarespace, return to your Flodesk tab and click Verify Connection.
Flodesk will now check your domain’s DNS for those new records.
Verification can take up to 24 hours, though it often happens within an hour or two.

Step 5: Test your setup

When verification is complete, Flodesk will show your domain as Authenticated
To double-check, send yourself a test email and hover over any link inside it. You should now see your custom domain in the link instead of a Flodesk one.

Why this step matters

Verifying your domain improves your sender reputation, boosts deliverability, and helps your brand look more polished in every email. It’s one of those tiny tech tasks that pays off big time.

Pro Tip: If you ever transfer your domain or change hosting providers, you’ll need to re-enter your Flodesk DNS records in your new DNS manager to keep your authentication active.
